Is Blasphemy Against The Spirit An Unpardonable Sin?

(Matt.12: 22-37) Then they brought him (Jesus) a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.   All the people were astonished, and said, "Could this be the Son of God?"  But when the Pharisee heard it, they said, "This fellow (Jesus) doth not cast out the demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils" Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined and every city or household divided against itself it cannot stand. And if Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?...But if I (Jesus) cast out the demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come unto you... He that is NOT with me is against me; and he who does NOT gather with me scatters."

So I tell you, "Every sin and blasphemy will be Forgiven men, but the Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will NOT be Forgiven.  Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will NOT be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.  You brood of vipers, how can you, who are Evi,l say anything good? But I will tell you that Men will have to give an account on the Day of Judgment for Every Careless word they have spoken, and by your Words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

We understand that God's grace forgives every sin, but our Lord mentioned ONE sin that cannot be forgiven.  The religious leaders had come out to hear Jesus, but they oppose virtually every thing He said.  As he was doing miracles and casting out demons.  Those people were so Blind spiritually that they were attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan.  The Holy Spirit was saying, "This is the Son God. This is God."  And they were saying, "He is NOT God! He is Satan's agent."  Obviously, the Unpardonable sin is NOT merely saying an unkind thing about the Holy Spirit. The religious leaders involved had turned totally against the revelation of God.  They were so far into their own Wickedness that they rejected NOT only Jesus Christ but also the Holy Spirit.  They were saying that good was evil and evil was good.  They called the Spirit of God, Satan!!

They had rejected spiritual understanding and so could never come to Jesus, the one source of  forgiveness.  If a person does not accept Jesus, he cannot have forgiveness.  If he rejects the Holy Spirit and turns away from Jesus Christ, he can receive NO forgiveness.

In Luke 12:10 the Unpardonable sin is connected with the denial of Christ.  Jesus seems to make a distinction between Sin against Himself and Sin against the Holy Spirit (V.32).   The Unpardonable sin is often understood to mean that rejecting Christ, while He was on earth and His work was as forgivable.  But After His work of redemption was completed and the Holy Spirit has come, then the deliberate, final rejection of the Holy Spirit's offer of Christ would constitute the Eternal Sin for which there is NO Forgiveness Ever.

"Unpardonable sin" was attributing to Satan, Christ's authenticating miracles done in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Pharisees slandered the Holy Spirit by knowledgably attributing his work to the devil, thus committing the "Unpardonable sin".   Their sin was NOT an act of Impulse or Ignorance, But the result of a continual and Willful rejection of the truth concerning Jesus. It was a sin against spiritual knowledge, for they had many evidence of the truth from the words and deeds of Jesus.  There is forgiveness in Ignorance!!

(Acts 9:1-31) Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples...If he found any there in Damascus belonged to the WAY, whether men or women, he might take them prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.   He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecuted me?"   Who are you Lord?   Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom who are persecuting!"

The Way?   A name for Christianity occurring a number of times in Acts (16:17; 18:25-26; 19:9,23; 22:4; 24:14,22 see II Peter 2:2) Jesus called himself "The Way" (John 14:6). "Why? Do you persecute me (Christ)?"  to persecute the Church is to persecute Christ, for the Church is his body!   (I Cor. 12:26-28) Whether one member suffers, the entire member suffers with it.  Now ye are the body of Christ. "Who are you, Lord?"  In rabbinic tradition such a voice from heaven would have been understood as the voice of God himself.

(I Timothy 1:12-14)(Saul/Paul) thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength for that He considered me faithful, anointing me into the ministry.   Who was before a Blasphemer, and a Persecutor, and a violent man: but I obtained mercy, because I acted in Ignorantly in Unbelief and the grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly with and love which is in Christ Jesus.

However, there is No forgiveness of sin to those who deliberately refused to acknowledge God's power in Christ.  It indicates a deliberate and irreversible hardness of heart.  It reveals a heart-attitude of Unbelief and Unrepentance Deliberate, on going rejection of the work of the Holy Spirit is blasphemy because it is rejecting God himself.

We must be very careful with Careless Words and our actions!  If anyone today has committed this sin, it would be the ONE who is hard-hearted, and Willfully by rejecting the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of His Chosen people who truly born again are indeed the work of Satan!  They have become so depraved that he/she would claim that God Spirit is Satan. Whosoever rejects the prompting of the Holy Spirit removes himself or herself from the only ONE that can lead him or her to repentance and restoration to God.  (Matt.12: 36)   Are here mentioned in connection with the Unpardonable sin.   Our Words show Character (V.34). Our Every Word, as well as Every action and Every Secret act, is being Recorded as Evidence for the Day of Judgment.

(Matthew 18:1-6) Jesus called a little child, and set him in the midst of the disciples/multitude and said, The Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, proceeds from the Father and is Worshipped and Glorified together with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is as much divine as are the Father and the Son. The Father, as the Prime Mover, brings forth the creative Thought.  The Son, as agent of creation, Expresses that Thought.  The Spirit Activates the creative word and relates it to that which is created.   He inspired the scriptures and Empowers to God's people.  He takes the teachings of Jesus and reveals it to us so we can Understand His will for our lives.   (John 16:8) Tells that He convicts the world "of Sin, and of forgiveness, and of Judgment". All Three Persons of the Godhead are Eternal.  ALL Three Deity have existed from before there was anything that could begin Three Distinct Persons ALL functioning as ONE perfectly United in Spirit, in Purpose, in Love, in Power, in Character, and in Nature.

The Holy Spirit is also called "Holy Ghost"   "Spirit of Truth"  "Comforter".   He is also Omnipresent (Present Every Where at the Same Time) Ps. 139:7 He is also Omniscient (Having Universal Knowledge) I Cor. 2:10.   He is also Omnipotent (Unlimited in Power, Ability, Authority) Luke 1:35    He is also eternal. Hebrews 9:14.

One of the Trinity-Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (I John 5:7). Three Separate and Distinct Persons. (John 14: 16-17).  I will pray the Father; He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of truth. (John 14:6).How Do We Receive The Holy Ghost?    (John 3:3-8) By the New Birth, born of the Spirit.

(John 20:21) "As my Father has sent me, even so send I you," and when he had said this He breathed on them, "Receive ye the Holy Ghost".      (Acts 2: 4,17) All filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with language (Unlearned for the speakers) as the Spirit gave them utterance.            (Acts 2:38) "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remissions of Sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
(Act 5: 32) "Holy Ghost, whom God has given to them that obeys Him."        (Acts 10:43-48) "To him gave all the Prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive the remission of sins".  While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them, which HEARD the Word.
(Acts 20: 28) Holy Spirit has made you Elders, to feed the Church of God.  The Holy Spirit Is Not Given to Every Man.
(John 14:17)  Even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him.
(I Cor. 2:14) The Natural man receiveth NOT the things of the Spirit of God.
(Acts 5:32) The Spirit is given to them that OBEY Him.
(I Cor. 3:16-17)   Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God, dwelled in you?  If any man defiled the temple of God, him shall God destroy.  The Work of The Holy Spirit Imparts Life, Strength, Power, Hope, Teacher, Guide, Guides where and what to Preach, Comforts the Church, Intercedes for the Church, Testified of Christ, Reproves the World.

(Matthew 12:31-32;  Luke 12:10; Mark 3:28-30) This SIN cannot be FORGIVEN in this life or the life to come.

When Jesus was here, he was in charge of the individual, the Church and the Ministry.  When He left, He Promised that the Father would send forth the Holy Spirit to be in Charge of the Individual, the Church and the Ministry Until Christ returns to take the rest of His people.  In the Book of Acts we read about the Holy Spirit dealings with the Church, the Ministry, and leading God's people all into the Unity with God and Christ.
